The smell of repetition really is on you

Do not be alarmed, and do not let the guitar fool you.

This is
not a promotional photograph of the latest "serious artist" to be added to this years final 12 of Australian Idol. It is, however, a promotional photograph of American singer Teddy Geiger who, apparently, is quite popular with readers of Seventeen Magazine and Dolly.

WAIT. Come back, I have yet to finish. This is important, but it might take a while.

Good.

NOW. Teddy Geiger has a new single out called "These Walls". It is quite boring, but the video clip managed to catch my half-awaken eyes on Saturday morning, waiting to fall asleep again after catching a quick glimpse of Video Hits host Axle Whitehead. You see, the video clip certainly looked a bit familiar in places.

Teddy likes to play piano. According to his entry on Wikipedia, he has been doing this piano thing since he was 6 years old. Much like Lavina from Australian Idol, who has been doing this muffin thing also since she was 6, so obviously, many things which seem familiar already.

But back to the clip. Yes. Teddy likes to play piano, so in the new video for single "These Walls", Teddy plays this very instrument. Out with the guitar, and IN WITH KEYS. Here are some screengrabs of this clip:

Harmless enough. Let's look at some more.

But hang on, isn't that Lisa Mitchell Martina Navratilova Another male that is not Teddy Geiger Missy Higgins, the Australian female guitar and piano sturmmer who was "unearthed" by Indie radio station triple J? Isn't that her (!) video clip for a song called "Scar"?

Yes readers, it is.

OK. So they both play the piano in their clips. "BIG DEAL" I hear you shriek.

Well, now let's go back to Teddy. As his song is called "These Walls", in the video clip "the walls" come CRASHING DOWN. Isn't he clever, that Mr Geiger? Do you get it? It's called "These Walls" and the walls in the clip fall! Whattaguy.

Again, doesn't something very similar happen in that Missy Higgins clip?

Teddy's walls might fall down, but MISSY'S PIANO IS FALLING APART.

So the original thought that sprung to my mind was "Teddy Geiger IS Missy Higgins." After all, guitar, piano, penis - they have all these things. But then (YES. THERE IS A BUT!) this:

OH NO TEDDY!! YOUR PIANO IS ON FIRE! BUT YOU ARE STILL PLAYING IT! HOW BRILLIANT!! But hang on a second...

DELTA FUCKING GOODREM?!?! Love, what are you doing h...

Oh. My. GOD. FUCK OFF, NO HE DIDN'T!!!! TELL ME HE DIDN'T JUST DO THAT!!

Teddy Geiger has ripped off
our Delta as well as that other thing. Which obviously does not make him both Teddy Geiger AND Missy Higgins as I originally thought, rather someone who has "people" who were strapped for ideas, stole someone else's ideas whilst on a visit in Australia watching some "tele", then forgot their "person" actually already had a market in Australia where those ideas were already seen and done about 600 times better. And by a lady who's piano needs replacing, and another who's man needs replacing.

Whoops.

So what is the very important lesson we have learnt after all this folks?:

If you own a piano take good care of it, and make sure it does not catch on fire whilst you're playing it.

Stunning observations. You know how much I love recognition of stolen ideas! This is brilliant analysis once again.

The guy makes me want to play piano. But he's NO Patrick Wolf. This stuff is hilarious! How can so many different 'artists' churn out the same old shit?

I know xo, Pianos on fire EVERWHERE! I do like that Nerina song though.

Kirkland, surely NO one could ever be like - or as mighty - as Patrick Wolf. That man is certainly something else.

I love the way Delta Goodram (not correct, but appropriate spelling) plays her piano in video-clips.

She's bouncing up and down so emphatically, like she's dancing with her shoulders.

I do a good impersonation, except without the cancer/wig.
