"...you'll remember me!"
I was quite young when Sabrina's "Boys (Summertime Love)" was released (it was 1987 after all), but I remember obsessing over it the minute I heard it. My uncle (who was a very young adult at the time) and my aunty (who was - in my eyes - a very cool high-school going teenager with amazing 80's hair) were quite into their music and because I spent so much time around them, I managed to educate myself from an early age.
Sabrina's "Boys..." was an instant favourite in the "fully sick" car stereo set up my uncle had going (a Kenwood tape player with an amplifier the size of Texas). My aunty loved to play it on the twin cassette deck (it was bright red) in her bedroom when she got home from school - her copy was taped off The American Top 40 Countdown (it was a hit prediction) which used to broadcast on Australian radio, unlike my uncle who had recorded it from his friends 12" Vinyl Copy (which I - about 3 months later - claimed as my own).
My levels of obsession reached new heights when I saw the video clip. Not only does Sabrina Salerno's breast/'s manage to pop out a total 376 times, but on occasion, her lip-synching is completely out of wack.
Isn't the video just excellent? I remember everytime I went swimming after seeing that video for the first time, I used to paddle about singing Sabrina's signature hit to myself, splashing about the water like an absolute cockhead. All this whilst pretending my breast (!!) was slipping out of my non-existent top. I was young, naive and thought Sabrina was THE COOLEST. Sometimes when I swim today, the tune enters my head and I'm a young'un all over again.

Sabrina is apparently still kicking, she even has her own official website. Sadly, there is no MySpace, but I'm sure that'll happen "next week" just like the English version of her website (which has been coming "next week" for the last 2 months...)

Unfortunately I'm too young to remember her, but I'm happy to relive the moments.
