R.I.P. Sophie Heathcote

 One of Australia's finest acting talents has sadly passed away.
Sophie Heathcote, although known for her role in Water Rats, did not gain admirable legendary status until she portrayed the character Sam "Bizzerko" Kusurko on the amazing ABC TV show Raw FM.
On the 5th of January 2006, Sophie, 33, suffered an aneurysm which was the cause of death, and was believed to have been battling skin cancer as well. Sophie is survived by her husband, a daughter and a 16 month old son.
Sophie's portrayal of a lesbian vocalist on Raw FM was nothing short of flawless. In the episode "Raw N Sore", the camera's followed the character in an In Bed With Madonna style fashion, with Sam being filmed as she planned an outside broadcast in which she would star. The episode landed Sophie an AFI award nomination, and the song performed, called "Headlander", under the name Dollmeister, is still, nine years on, one of the most original and fresh electronic dance tracks made in this country.
We send our love and condolences to Sophie's family and friends. This is certainly a shocking and tragic loss... we're still really not quite sure what to say.
Sophie, you will be missed, may you rest in peace.

Amen to that. Sophie was a beautiful person, inside as well as out. She will be sorely missed. So sad.
