We just want you to know

The new Backstreet Boys single, "Just want you to know", has debuted in this weeks ARIA chart at Number #22.

Unacceptable Australia.

This is one of the greatest songs to come from a boyband, not ever, but bloody close, yes. Never mind the fact that there really is only one member to care for in that band (just when we thought Nick Carter could not get any sexier, he goes and gets incredibly buffed, bronzed and completely more fuckable than he ever was. There really is a god, etc etc). And never mind that "B-Rock" started going bald and then found god (possibly not in that order). Do not allow his baldness and love of Mel Gibson to deter you from purchasing a very good pop song.

Nickelback and that disgusting Daniel Powter are in this countries top 10 and sexy Nick Carter The Backstreet Boys don't even scrape into our top 20.

Let us have a look, in true Friday list tradition, at some of the reasons why next week we want the single to at LEAST be number 5.

1. The video clip is simply the most brilliant thing you will see this week.
2. Nick Carter
3. It is a VERY good song that is quite fitting when at the gym.
4. Nick Carter
5. And that's that.

P.S. Just quietly, we're quite "into" the new Shannon Noll and Ricki-Lee singles. We know, how terrible. Also, PPS: Have you missed us?!

    A kindred spirit!

I'm also fending off urges to unzip my fly for a mid-afternoon tug in respect of Shannon Noll and Ricki-Lee!

All the more amazing given I was once responsible for leaving demented Shannon effigies across Melbourne (and in churches).

Yes, the hatred went quite deep.

Now. As for that BSB song.

    I am disappointed in you.

Thesis: "How can you make such a claim given the existence 'Poster Girl' on the very same album." Discuss.

Ahh, "Poster Girl" is indeed the albums greatest track. I never did say it was the best track from their album, just stated it was one of the better songs to come from a boyband in a while. Of course, when Poster Girl is released, this will definitely kill off any love I have for "Just want you to know" as a single.

Come to think of it, "Poster Girl" and "Climbing the walls" really should be bunched together as a double A side and made the next single from the album. Surely a number 1 single from them, would it not be?

Why don't more artists release double a side's these days?! I have such fond memories of the double a-side 90's with "Who Do You Think You Are"/"Mama" - and how amazing would it be to one day think that Rachel Stevens' second Australian Single will be "Some Girls"/"Crazy Boys".

Yes, i'm demanding "I said never again" get an Australian release.

    DEMAND.

    Well, that's a relief.

'Poster Girl' really is quite stunning. It's in S2BC's Top 20 for the year thus far (still topped by Patrick Wolf).

[Ooh - imagine being topped by Patrick Wolf! Pardon me for a moment.]

As for the Rachel Stevens issue. YES. Do you remember Holler/Love Will Lead The Way? The only 2 good songs on that album! (And thus the only single.)
